Gerald M. Welt received his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. He has been in practice since 1973. Attorney Welt practices Social Security Disability/SSI disability law. He has served on the Nevada Justice Association Board of Governors since 1979 as a board member, treasurer, president-elect, president and chief administrative officer. Now he serves as an NJA Emeritus board member. He was the co-chair of Citizens for Justice from 1992-2010. He was a member of the President’s Council of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Additionally, he has been a moderator and instructor for the People’s Law School in the subject of Social Security Disability/SSI. In 2019 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nevada Justice Association.
He has been active in the State Bar of Nevada as a member and chair of the Lawyers’ Referral and Information Services committee. Welt is general legal counsel for the Las Vegas Clark County Library District. He has served as a member of the State of Nevada Medical/Dental Screening panel. Welt was a member of the court appointed arbitration panel and has also acted as arbitrator in multiple cases since 1996. Additionally, he is a member and past Nevada state chairman of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant Representatives (NOSSCR).
Attorney Welt is a member of the Nevada State Bar as well as the Clark County Bar Associations. He was named as a Colleague of the Nevada Law Foundation, and he has volunteered in a variety of capacities for numerous charitable and non-profit organizations. In 2023 Attorney Welt was acknowledged by the Clark County Commission for his work with the Las Vegas Clark County Library District, who he has represented since 1977.
